In addition to stints with Jamie Barnes & Cochise, Connie & the Bandits, and Jump the Q, Duncan spent a few years with the Glasgow showband Conspiracy. Later, after playing bass for the late Maureen Hart, the Scottish singer and comedienne, he retired from the music scene. He was lured to Losferwords only because they promised him free beer and no gear-lifting. When that didn’t materialise he left the band in a huff. Recently, after a five year break, he rejoined the Wurds after being promised even more free beer and even less gear-lifting. He’s still waiting….
Duncan enjoys the bass-playing of Andy Fraser, Paul McCartney, Jaco Pastorius, Stanley Clarke, Marcus Miller, Victor Wooten, James Jamerson, Jack Bruce and all those thousands of guys on YouTube who are so much better bass players than he is.
He plays a Black n' Gold Aria Pro II bass, re-fitted with EMG pickups, bought in the mid 80s and still going strong. He plays through an Ashdown mini-stack comprising ABM 300 amp head, ABM Mini 1x15” cabinet and ABM Mini 4x8” cabinet.
